Marco Rigamonti HOME IST WHERE THE HEART IS Vernissage am 14. Februar 2026

This work was born from watching a movie: „Hollywood, Vermont,“ in which the protagonist, looking at a typical American house with a porch equipped with a swing, exclaims, „What a beautiful house! Only a nice person could live in a house like that.“ I then realized that it would be possible to create portraits of people without ever meeting the subjects, without speaking to them, essentially without ever interacting directly with the person I wanted to photograph. By carefully observing homes from the outside and at the right distance, you can discern the character, lifestyle, and interests of those who live there. Sometimes the things that belong to us, the clothes we wear, and the places we live say much more about us than words or our faces. Photography allows us to get to know others by entering their homes without ever crossing the threshold or knocking.
The title of the book is taken from a famous song made famous by Elvis Presley:

Home is where the heart is

And my heart is anywhere you are

Anywhere you are is home
