ELENA HELFRECHT – Making a Home Ausstellung bis zum 28. April 2025

Mit ELENA HELFRECHT und ihrer Arbeit „Making a Home“ nehmen wir erstmals am offiziellen Programm des Europäischen Monats der Fotografie teil.

In „Making a Home“ zeigt Elena Helfrecht ihre Serie „Plexus“ (2018–2023), die das Thema Postmemory und Traumavererbung in Verbindung mit aktuellen politischen Entwicklungen behandelt. Ihre Schwarz-Weiß-Fotografien inszenieren alltägliche Räume surreal: Stalaktiten tropfen von Türen, Abgründe tun sich auf, und Stühle schweben. Die Arbeit verknüpft Archivbilder und thematisiert die komplexen Beziehungen zwischen Orten, Menschen und Geschichte. Das Buch „Plexus“, kürzlich von VOID veröffentlicht, wurde 2024 für die Shortlist der Rencontres d’Arles Book Awards ausgewählt.

With ELENA HELFRECHT and her work, we are participating for the first time in the official program of the European Month of Photography.

In “Making a Home”, Elena Helfrecht shows her series “Plexus” (2018-2023), which deals with the topic of postmemory and trauma inheritance in connection with current political developments. Her black and white photographs stage everyday spaces in a surreal way: stalactites drip from doors, abysses open up and chairs float. The work combines archive images and addresses the complex relationships between places, people and history. The book “Plexus”, recently published by VOID, was shortlisted for the 2024 Rencontres d’Arles Book Awards.
